I've tried adding the picture in AD, then I sync the account to 365 (AAD Connect), the picture then appears in the 365 services but again not in outlook cached exchange mode. If you take the client out of cached exchange mode and work "online" the picture appears. My issue is that we all use Outlook 2016 client in cached exchange mode and when you view contact details from there, you don't see their picture. When a user updates their profile picture in the 365 portal, we can see the pic on Skype, Outlook web and basically every 365 service. On the profile page that opens up, your ID is listed in front of the heading, Skype Name. Our on-prem exchange doesn't handle mail flow ( referring to autodiscover and MX, all points at 365). At the top left of the screen where you have your profile picture and name, click on either your profile picture or name to open up the menu. All user mailboxes are 365 mailboxes, and all mail routes to and from 365. After selecting an area code, you will be directed to Step 2. Enter or select a number combination for your new phone number. This will direct you to a new page with 'Step 1: Select area and code.' Select your area and code from the list below to continue. We have a hybrid scenario with exchange on-prem (2016) and office 365. Click on the specific country you want to have your Skype number in from the options.
